Our logo, our name!

Probably the first and an unpleasant problem is finding a name for a startup. What does our company want to embody? What name matches best, describes and fits to our idea? This process took about 2 months. You can find out where the discussions and efforts led us in this news article.

First ideas

Shortly after deciding to create a startup, finding a name plagued us. We intended the name to embody the idea, be novel, simple and not confusing. The first name we talked about for a while was “Athletes connect the world”. However, it soon became clear that our idea should appeal not only to athletes but also to other professionals in various sports fields. Thus, this name could not ideally embody our company.

Suddenly we remembered our first conversation in an outdoor pool while swimming. We wanted – if our idea really came to the market – to make a business trip to the mountain we had spent hours looking at while discussing it. Morgles was it’s name. But Morgles already existed and the idea left as quickly as it came.

So we started looking for names that would connect people in sports. To do this, we decided to create a mind map to facilitate the naming process. Share your Sport was the result. We let the name – as the saying goes – sink in for a few days. The conclusion: We disagreed! Jason thought the name was great, the two Roman’s were not really on fire for this name.

Asking makes smart – The name is there!

The time has passed and we have asked relatives for their opinion. The opinion was divided and rarely someone found the name really great. We discussed the possible name and a variety of alternatives in a convivial setting. We decided against Share your Sport and kept searching. Something with “train” the verb and not the noun! And where do you meet to share experiences, adventures and exciting acquaintances? Exactly, in a pub. Pub is also the abbreviation for “public”.

So two people meet in a public place to do sports and train together. To exchange ideas, to have fun together, to learn from each other and, thanks to Trainpub, to make everyday sports life more exciting!

The euphoria was great and we found the name simple, not confusing, novel and representative for our idea and our company!

Our Logo – Designed by Roman Schaad

It did last two days until we had dozens of suggestions on the mail, how one could represent the writing and the logo now graphically.

We were looking for unique selling points that could be incorporated into the logo. And so our logo “Infinite” was born. Were very quickly agreed, because we were fascinated by the meanings of the logo.

The color – orange

So the lettering with the “Infinite” was definite. But what color should our logo be? We considered the meaning of the color, what it does and how the color would look on the website. Soon, the color “orange” was high on our list. Orange means lively, flexible, joyful and sporty. That’s how we want our brand’s image to be!

The final logo
